DWNA Leadership
The leadership of the Dutchtown West Neighborhood Association is listed below. The current leaders are all volunteers from the neighborhood and were elected on October 13, 2009. They will serve six months until April 13, 2010.

Chair:

Leads Neighborhood Association meetings, and works with Vice-Chair, Action Group Coordinators, Block Captains, Secretary and Treasurer to set the agenda and guide the direction of the neighborhood association.
Current Goals:
- Facilitate monthly leadership meetings to ensure DWNA mission and leadership goals are met
- Aid in the development and creation of PR for the neighborhood association
Volunteer Tasks:
- Schedule and coordinate leadership meetings
- Create Power Point slides for meeting
- Create meeting Agenda and attached flyer
- Maintain and update DWNA issue list
- Updates DWNA website with new announcements and relevant meeting information
- Respond and re-direct calls and emails from neighbors to appropriate elected or city officials
- Correspond with NSO, Aldermen, Police Department, and other city officials to receive updates on DWNA issues
- Coordinate with guest speakers at DWNA meetings
- Lead/serve as facilitator of DWNA monthly meetings
Vice-Chair:

Assists the Chair and serves in the Chair’s absence.
Current Goals
- Establish a means for measuring goals and accomplishments
- Develop a leadership binder to create future leadership continuity
- Survey neighborhood association to improve effectiveness
Volunteer Tasks:
- Attend leadership meetings
- Bring Power Point projector and computer to each meeting
- Conference with Chair regarding meetings and DWNA direction
Secretary:

Takes minutes and keeps time during meetings. Coordinates refreshments at meetings.
Current Goals
- Aid in oversight of visual improvements to neighborhood (street conditions, etc.)
Volunteer Tasks:
- Attend leadership meetings
- Type minutes after each meeting and email to webmaster for posting on DWNA website
Treasurer:

Keeps track of charitable donations and other financial gifts to association by local businesses and individuals.
Current Goals
- Establish DWNA checking account through DSCC
- Solicit donations/grants for general operating expenses
- Establish 501c3 charitable organization status
- Discover sources of income for the organization

- Attend leadership meetings
- Keep track of all DWNA funds
Block Captain Coordinator:

Organizes Block Captains in the Neighborhood Association. Block Captains are resident volunteers in the community that keep a closer eye on safety, cleanliness and other activities on their blocks and works closely with the police department and our neighbors to promote our neighborhood associations’ mission and purpose.
Current Goals
- Develop a “Block Captain Introduction” packet
- Solicit 20 Block Captains in DWNA area
- Develop a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” packet
- Organize a Block Captain Training with DSCC
- Work with Block Captains to create a “Block Directory” for each block and distribute

Neighborhood Improvement Action Group Coordinator:

Organizes neighborhood events like Park/Street Clean-Up, Neighborhood Night Out, Block/Neighborhood Parties, and organizes our master short and long-term neighborhood improvement plan.
Current Goals
- Work to create a master Amberg Park development plan and begin to solicit funds
- Identify and begin a tree planting initiative in DWNA area
- Establish a recognition program for neighborhood improvements

Business Outreach Action Group Coordinator:

Contacts and communicates with local businesses to promote neighborhood association, invite them to meetings, and support new neighborhood businesses.
Current Goals
- Get contact names for each business in DWNA area
- Advertise DWNA to local businesses via letters/flyers
- Invite local businesses to meetings
- Solicit advertisements/coupons from local businesses for directory and website
Volunteer Tasks:

Communication Action Group Coordinator:

Organizes the neighborhood association mailers, phone tree, and other public correspondence.
Current Goals
- Keep everyone informed via emails, postcards, flyers, and yard signs.
- Update and distribute internal DWNA directory
- Print and provide more yard signs to residents
- Work with Treasurer to create new sources of income for organization (fundraising)
Volunteer Tasks:
- Attend leadership meetings
- Solicit and manage “phone-tree” volunteers
- Mail out DWNA correspondence
- Place DWNA yard signs out before each meeting
