Hello,

The Refuse Department will assess the need for larger containers in alleys. Residents who observed trash on the ground and overflowing containers are encouraged to contact the Citizen Service Bureau at 622-4800. They can contact CSB and the police when witnessing any illegal dumping (large debris, commercial, persons outside of city limits, etc.). Any details that can be provided (license number, address/name of commercial business or residence) is helpful.

I don't know what other alleys are like, but the one between the 4400th block of 38th and Spring (between Osceola and Taft) was DISGUSTING the other day before they finally came. Trash blew out of the overfilled (causing them to lay open) dumpsters and is all over the alley, and of course wasn't picked up by the garbage men (not that I blame them). People also piled up trash along side of the dumpsters, which was not picked up. Just after a couple weeks of this new schedule our alley now looks way worse than it did before, and it already looked terrible.

Are the larger, more attractive dumpsters all delivered already? I am assuming it is safe to assume my alley when not be getting any.

If this is how the schedule remains, and people don't do a better job of cleaning up, our neighborhood is going to look disgusting. If other neighborhoods are the same way, this city is going to be gross. Not only is it terribly unpleasant to look at, but it is also unsanitary. Several of histories plagues were traced back to trash pileup in major cities, not that I believe it will get THAT bad.

I imagine the city can find a more sanitary and resonable way to save $1 million dollars this year. Drive down Gravois, Chippewa, Grand, Jefferson, etc etc and you will see South City has enough of a trash problem, this needs to be fixed.
