DWNA Website Adds New Facebook “Like” Buttons

The Dutchtown West Neighborhood Association (DWNA) website, www.dutchtownwest.org has added the new Facebook “Like” buttons to each new post. Now, if there’s something posted here that you would like to share on Facebook, click the “Like” button near the top of every post when you open each post individually by clicking on the post title.

Also, Join our Facebook group! Just search for “DWNA” in groups and add us as a friend to get new neighborhood news and talk/network with other neighbors!

Support for Google Fiber

Google is planning to build ultra-high speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the country. The plan is to deploy 1 Gbps, fiber optic connections directly to people’s homes and businesses. This connection would be over 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today.

Securing ultra high speed internet infrastructure in St. Louis will provide strong momentum for the creation of next generation internet services, companies, and jobs. For the resident and business owner, it means competitive pricing on ultra fast broadband and maintaining an array of choices in internet service providers.

The City of St. Louis is responding to the Request For Information (RFI) released by Google. The deadline for submissions is March 26th. We will be competing with many other communities across the country to be chosen for this experiment. Google will not be asking for any municipality to pay for the deployment of the fiber.

One part of the RFI requires us to demonstrate our community support for this project. To this end, we’ve created the following website: http://stlcin.missouri.org/googlefiber/

Please show Google we deserve ultra high speed broadband by doing any or all of the following:

1. Share the site and our effort via Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or through your own email.
2. Embed a link to the site on your business or organization’s website.
3. Nominate St. Louis as a resident.
4. Get an organization of which you are a member to support our effort.
5. Leave a comment of support on our map.
6. Upload a video discussing what an ultra high speed connection would do for you, your business or organization, and your community.

We’ll measure support through the number of Facebook fans, re-tweets on Twitter, organizations who’ve add their support, and comments on our map.

DutchtownWest.org Sees Increase in Traffic!

The Dutchtown West Neighborhood Association (DWNA) website, DutchtownWest.org has reached a visitor count of 6,000!

The DWNA website started in December of 2008 as a tool to communicate news and information to Dutchtown West neighbors as well as serve as an online resource for information that anyone can access 24/7. Additionally, the aim is that the website will aid in the continuity and transition of DWNA leaders in the future.

In addition to DutchtownWest.org receiving 6,000 visitors, there’s been:

66,851 different page views on the website
134 different neighborhood posts made to the website
41 different comments made by guests to the website

New features on website!

Based on feedback from our last meeting, there are a few new features on our Neighborhood Website! We have a page devoted to properties for sale in our neighborhood. There is a section FOR SALE and a section FOR RENT. If you would like to post any properties for sale, please email the information to webmaster@dutchtownwest.org
